Choose at boot.

This is MAQ's multi-boot screen: a graphical menu with two icons, operated by keyboard or mouse. Go into SteamOS for games; switch to Windows for Windows-only titles, office work or creative software. One machine does the job of two.

SteamOS on the weekend,
Windows when work calls.

SteamOS runs a large share of the Steam library directly through Proton (compatibility for each title can be checked on ProtonDB). The few online games with kernel-level anti-cheat, plus Windows-only platforms and software, run after switching back to Windows. No need to buy a second computer just because you occasionally need Windows.

MAQ installs and tests both systems and the boot menu before shipping. Plug in and use.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is SteamOS, and how is it different from a Windows gaming PC?

SteamOS is Valve's own Linux-based gaming operating system, the same one used on the Steam Deck. Through the Proton compatibility layer it runs a large number of Steam games that were only released for Windows. The interface is a console-style big-screen design that can be fully operated with a controller, which suits a living-room sofa setup.

How does a MAQ SteamOS PC differ from Valve's Steam Machine?

The Valve Steam Machine ships with a fixed specification. A MAQ SteamOS-compatible PC can be customised to your budget with upgraded CPU, GPU, memory and storage, starts from NT$35,000 in stock, supports multi-boot (Windows + SteamOS), and comes with warranty and repair service in Taiwan, so nothing has to be shipped overseas.

Can one machine dual boot Windows and SteamOS?

Yes. A graphical menu at power-on lets you choose Windows or SteamOS: SteamOS for Steam games, Windows for Windows-only games or office software. The SteamOS-High model ships with both systems pre-installed.

How is game compatibility on SteamOS? Do all Steam games run?

Most Steam games run directly through Proton, and each title's rating can be checked on ProtonDB. A small number of online games with kernel-level anti-cheat do not currently support Linux; those can be run by switching back to Windows, which is exactly why MAQ builds these machines for dual boot.

Why do all MAQ SteamOS machines use AMD graphics?

SteamOS currently supports AMD Radeon graphics officially, whether discrete or integrated; the processor can be Intel or AMD. Driver work between Valve and NVIDIA is still in development. Every model MAQ sells falls within Valve's officially supported range, so it installs cleanly and runs smoothly.

What about warranty and after-sales service?

MAQ includes a three-year hardware warranty in Taiwan at no extra cost. Repairs are completed locally for fast, reliable turnaround, and software issues can be handled remotely. Orders ship by premium courier with next-day delivery within Taiwan.
